Amateur seeking feed back (updated, march, 14, 2010)

Hi, I'n new to photo and I really enjoy it. The only problem I'm not sure if I'm no good, ok, what up or what's down when it comes to photography. But I do have an art background and I have a few photo friends in my art college that have influenced me. So when I take a shot I try to draw from my art experience no capture my visions thru the camera lens instead with a pencil.

#1. Out of place.

#2. Differantance in harmony.

#3. Fallen

I personally like your - #1. Out of place photo and I really don't think it's out of place to me, because the colors is nice and goes well in my opinion. As for photo #3. Fallen -- it's kind of nice but I seems to unable to adjust to the heavy reddish and yellowish contrast, I assume that's just a matter of my personal taste. The rest I can't really get a grip on somehow. Anyway, these is just my amateur thoughts here and cheers for the day ... ...

Thanks, and yeah, I probably should have contrasted the colors in fallen. My thinking was that the focal point stood out enough without doing it, but Now I'm having second thoughts.

OK, here are some updates:

#1. Toph in a Box: this was taken a while ago with a cannon powershot G9. Unfortunately, I knew allot less about photography then and didn't adjust the iso and now the photo is very noisy. BUt I thought it is a cute photo so I decided to share it with you.

NOTE: Every photo below this point was taken with my cell phone a black berry curve 8330 with a built in 3.2 megapixel camera. I don't own my own camera but I can rent cannon powershot G9 from my school for free. so I ended up taking these with the only camera I had on me at the time.

#2. Sepia angel: This my cat angel just hanging out on the autumn in our living room.

#3. Sepia angel #2 - portrait: My cat Angel agin !!! I just had to take a photo of his adorable face.

#4 - #6. into the light #1-3: I was experimenting/praciting abstraction and composition with these shots. I'm not completely sure if I was successful.

Enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All Shot Below taken with a cannon G9 power shot.

#1-2. Street lights v1-2:
It is quite funny, how i learned to do this. I was watching a show on ufo's. and they were investigating photos of suspected ufo's. They appeared as streaks across the sky, in lines of light. It was explained that the streaks, were just normal aircraft, and the cameras, could catch the movement of the planes, Because of the frame rate. So the streaks people were picking were actually lights on air planes.

So on the way home from campus, I wondered if I could apply that concept to the street lights. To get the effect that I wanted I wagged the camera up and down, to increase the effect.

#3. Dash:
An abstract shot I take on the way home from the ccs campus in Detroit.

#4. Rush:
An abstract shot I take on the way home from the ccs campus in Detroit.

#5. Pencils
A shot I take of my bosses pens and pencils in her pencil holder.

#6. Blushing pink:
One, of the flowers in the ccs sculpture garden.

#7. Of red and green
Also taken in the sculpture garden.

#8. Red
Again a sculpture garden shot. I just had allot of un with these ^_^ !!

Enjoy and give Crit you may have !!!

I was going to comment on the high grain of a lot of the shots. I see that a number of the bigger offenders are cell phone shots, so that makes sense. But the ones with the Canon G9 have a lot of grain noise as well. Is this intentional, or are you maybe just not totally at home with the rental cam? You've got an eye for composition, but, for me, the heavy grain doesnt work for some of the shots. It's hard when you dont have decent equipment to work with. I've never used a G9 but it looks decent for a point and shoot. Rent that as often as you can and keep at it. I see good stuff coming from you.

I really like the pencils shot - good composition!

The cats are really cute, too.

I agree with Hookswords that the noise is a bit distracting. Did you work with high iso settings?

I got to agree with Hookswords again, rent the g9 as often as you can and keep shooting

Hooksworth and Nike ^_^ !!!!!, thanks, what's the best way to get rid of the grain, I've been having problems with it, I did, try and change the Iso doesn't seem to help much.

I really enjoy, photo just as much as my art, so I will keep on shooting !!

BTW, I was wondering what is a good high quality camera to buy? I was thinking of saving up for one.

HI guys !! those recent photos are from my trip to the park with my sister !!!!
This time I made sure I had a lower ISO to get rid of the grain. I put the ISO at 80 I hope that isn't to low.

#1. The flowers of many kinds.

#2. Stairway from Below: This is the stairway in the local park theatre. BTW, I see A dragons face in it !!! The light is the eye the gap inbewteen the stairs is the open mouth and the steps on the left bottom corner of the shot is thte scales on the bottom jaw. Can you see it or am I going nuts?

#3. On The Fence.

#4. The birds- On the fence v2: There conspiring against us , trust me. my sister and I got poop bombed while taking this shot..... LOL just kidding I've been watching to much Hitchcook !!

#5. Honey, Anyone Home?: Me and my sister were on our to the park and we spot this huge wasp's nest and geez was this thing huge. So I pulled out the camera and snapped a quick shot ^_^ !!! Enjoy !!!
BTW, I hate going near bees nest's. When I was a child I got stung in the eye by a yellow jacket. luckily, it is the end of november right before winter rolls around so it was abandoned.

#6. Old Fashioned: A shot of my sisters jeans, while we were siting in a Gazebo in the park !!!
